This article is dedicated to an endearing character, who throughout his life worked as a farmer, a profession that he combined for 41 years with that of a taxi driver, first in Arafo and then in Santa Cruz de Tenerife; and he was also employed in an automobile parts business. His life took place in Malpaís de Candelaria,
A town that was the authentic living memory of him and where he always assumed a strong social and cultural commitment, as he collaborated in community works and social activities; He was secretary, treasurer and Email Marketing List president of the Festival Commission of said town, as well as a member of the Community Board of Araya, Las Cuevecitas and Malpaís. In addition, he acted as a folklorist and popular poet. Since 2018, he has named the Multifunctional Cultural Center of his hometown.
He was born in Malpaís de Candelaria on February 27, 1945 (although the baptism certificate shows that he was born two days earlier), being the son of Mr. Andrés Otazo Roque, a native of the same town, and Mrs. Paula Morales Cruz, who was from Arico, married in the Sanctuary of Candelaria in 1928. On August 5 of that same year he was baptized in the parish church of Santa Ana de Candelaria by the priest delegate Don César Martín; He was named “ Fulgencio Matías ” and Mr. Domingo Navarro Trujillo and Mrs. Delfina Otazo Rodríguez acted as godparents.
