We have many options for sharing files between computers. It can be done wirelessly, with cloud storage for example, but also wired, via external hard drives, USB keys, etc. However, we can also share files between LAN-connected computers on the same network. It's a simple process and it's also useful when we have several computers in a house and want to transfer files between them. In this article, we will talk about it. We will explain how to share files between computers connected via LAN in Windows 10.

Windows 10 is the most used operating system by users today. This means that when we China Email List write a tutorial like this it can be used by many people. In this case, we will explain how to share folders and files between two computers connected via LAN.

The first thing we want to mention is that we won't need to install any third-party tools. The Windows 10 operating system itself has its own features that allow you to share files over the local network quickly and easily. You just need to follow a series of steps that we are going to mention to get everything ready.

We can transfer files from one computer to another in our home without having to upload them to the cloud or use any other tool. This saves time and also convenience.

Enable network sharing
The main and fundamental point to keep in mind is that both computers must be connected to the same network. It doesn't matter if it's a home network or we're at work. The two computers must be connected via a cable. The ideal is to have Gigabit capacity cables

Because in this way the data transfer speed will be up to 1 Gbps.

If we use a lower class cable, we may have problems sharing files quickly.

Note: We can also configure our computers to share data via WLAN and thus without cables, but in this article we will focus on how to share files via LAN.

Therefore, when the two computers are properly connected with an Ethernet cable, as we have shown, we will simply have to perform a series of configurations at the software level. Of course, you also need to make sure the cables are working properly and in good condition, mainly to get the most out of your transfer speed.

After that, we need to allow the use of shared networks on both computers. To do this, in Windows 10, we need to access the Network and Sharing Center. We can go in Démarrer , we enter configuration , Network and Internet and there in Advanced network configuration , we click on the Network and Shared Center Center section.

In this section we need to go to the left area and click Change advanced sharing settings. In the Private section, we need to configure it as shown in the image below. Network discovery and file and printer sharing must be enabled or they will not be available.
