The few Ciudadanos councilors who have been saved from the bloodletting that the municipal elections of May 28 in the Community of Madrid have meant for the orange formation are now giving mayoralties to the Socialist Party . The formation has decided to support the PSOE to govern in Guadalix de la Sierra and is negotiating to do the same in Torrelaguna , hours before the formation of the town councils of all of Spain this Saturday, June 17.
Alexis Ortega , the only councilor that Ciudadanos has won in Guadalix de la Sierra, a Madrid municipality of about 7,000 inhabitants 49 kilometers from the Phone Number Data capital in the Jarama River basin, has agreed with the PSOE to make its candidate Borja Álvarez mayor . In exchange, Ortega will be deputy mayor under the control of the departments of Security, Sports, Livestock and Communication.
Although those from Ciudadanos have recognized that the PP , which won 4 councilors last March 28 , also offered, in addition to the PSOE, to "carry out" its electoral program, it has finally decided to ally with the 6 councilors of the PSOE to add a majority against the 4 of the PP that with Vox added up to 6 and with the Cs councilor would have reached the majority of 7.

«We reiterate that our only and iron intention is to fight for the progress of the town and the well-being of our neighbors. From our formation we believe that the best way to do it is to go through the government, be conditional and change the course of Guadalix. Our proposals will be adhered to the new mandate and thanks to the signed agreement we will be able to carry out our projects, so desired by the neighbors," says Ciudadanos.
Once this pact has been consummated, which will become effective this Saturday in the constitution of the City Council but which has already been signed by both parties, the oranges are also negotiating to give the mayorship to the PSOE in another Madrid municipality, Torrelaguna.
In this town the Popular Party has achieved 5 councilors, the PSOE 3, CUP 2 and Ciudadanos 1. According to popular sources , the oranges would be very close to giving the mayor's office to the PSOE and not agreeing with the PP, despite the fact that it has been the most voted force in the town.
At the national level, Ciudadanos has gone from having 2,797 councilors spread throughout the territory in 2019, to barely saving 392 in the municipal elections of 2023. However, those few councilors determine in some cases, such as these two Madrid towns of Guadalix de the Sierra and Torrelaguna, the formation of governments.
